Coming Up:

Next week we will have Batavia (6-1) vs Pal-Mac (3-4); Elba (4-3) @ Bath (6-1); Attica (7-0) vs ER/Gananda; and Alexander (5-2) vs Avon  (5-2).

With the Sectional round upon us, four teams will move on to face their first round opponent this weekend. While Batavia and Attica go into Week 8 with favorable match ups that they will be expected to win, Elba and Alexander will really need to play their best in order to come out of the quarterfinals unscathed.

Looking Back:

Batavia 49 – Bath 30 FINAL

Speed Kills: Gallo’s great night leads Batavia to 49-30 victory over Bath

Attica 49 – Oakfield 32 FINAL

Notre Dame 40 – Holley 13 FINAL √

Following another 5-0 week, I have finished the regular season at 25-9 in my picks. Congratulations to me.

Star of the Weekend:

Batavia’s Anthony Gallo was unstoppable versus the Bath Rams this weekend. Running all over the Rams’ defense, Gallo could not be caught all night long and scampered his way to 260 all-purpose yards and 5 touchdowns.

Worth Repeating:

“He’s my man.”

-Batavia head coach Brennan Briggs on Gallo’s performance

Keep an Eye On:

Keep an eye on the Alexander Trojans going forward. Although they have drawn a difficult start to the playoffs with the Avon Braves, I believe if they can escape the first round, they will have quite a good chance at the Class DD crown.

Lagniappe:

As the brackets have been announced, Batavia has drawn a first round match up with Pal-Mac, while a semi final with Penn Yan or Waterloo awaits them. This is by far the easier road as opposed to the other side of the B bracket, therefore, Batavia has been given a gift they must capitalize on.
